Systems Architect/Lead Engineer required to research, develop and design new cyber capabilities for UK Armed Forces. Assessing existing systems through architecting systematic hardware and software assessment tools and engineer complex environments which demonstrate threats and their potential mitigation.
Skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Extensive experience of the development of electronic systems;

Experience of multi-disciplinary products and cross disciplinary projects;

Comprehensive knowledge of the systems engineering development process (eg requirements capture, requirements management, solution identification, design (system and detailed design), verification and validation, production, manufacture and through life management planning).

Wide product experience, particularly within the defence industry;

Experience of architecting complex systems;

Product life cycle knowledge;

Ability to think and design at multiple abstraction levels from top block’ level to detailed technical levels, and across technical areas;

Ability to use technologies according to their suitability for a task eg when should a Microprocessor be used instead of an FPGA.
Duties:

Providing product life cycle knowledge;

Performing requirements capture/managing requirements (and their traceability) throughout development;

Identifying the most appropriate solution to the user’s problems;

Designing complex products (at the architectural and/or detailed design level) to meet systems requirements;

Planning and managing verification and validation activity;

Through life management planning; &

Support to internal programme and project team members in developing new systems engineering processes

Desirable
– Knowledge of OGD’s ways of working including Cyber projects eg NOCP

Candidates for this role will ideally have a good degree (or advanced professional qualifications) in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering (or) a good degree in a relevant Science subject (such as Maths and Physics) with appropriate technical/professional experience.
